Truly Inspirational and a Legend.
There are only a few humans who can honestly claim Legend status and you are one of them. Amazing stuff; your adventures have been gripping and it is humbling to see that this has been accomplished by an ´ordinary´ guy. Very inspirational. God bless you.

Amazing swim
I canoed half the Mississippi river and during the trip I met Mathew one of your kayak crew. He knew what I was going thru and helped me. For the life of me I don´t know how you swam it, and for those who don´t know, there is no current in the upper Mississippi its damned up with over thirty dams.

Amazon swim
I have just finished watching the documentary about you swimming the Amazon River.
Incredible!
Shame on those "talk show" hosts who failed you. They also failed the world.
The Amazon is the Lungs of the world and you highlighted its perilous state. It makes one wonder who makes the decisions for these TV people not to have you on their show and why! !
Where have all the "Greenies" gone?
Best wishes to you in the future, Martin, You are truly an inspiration. I see you are still in demand as a motivational speaker. That is probably more effective.

You are an amazing human being
I have almost finished reading The Man Who Swam The Amazon. I am truly inspired by you. I would love to know some of the stories you tell yourself to get through the pain that you were obviously suffering throughout those days of almost constant swimming. I am just waiting to buy a copy of the DVD.

Stay strong and keep up the truly AMAZING work.

Incredible Man
Just watched the movie, and i have never seen a documentary (or story) so powerful. You really are a role model and hero for the rest of this planet to look up to.

I just ordered the book and I am extremely eager to have it arrive. It will be very uplifting to read about such an inspirational
journey. Finally, there is someone out there tougher than Chuck Norris!

Congratulations!
It´s amazing how you achieved all your goals. I´ve never heard of (or met) anyone with so much willpower, courage and strength. You´re definitely a modern-day hero!

You and your swims will be the topic of one of my next English lessons because I think that people from every generation can learn so much from you and what you´ve achieved. You have shown that anyone can achieve anything they want. I believe that this gives a lot of people hope and courage.

I also think you´re very lucky to have a son like Borut who is very supportive of you and everything you do.

Best wishes and greetings from Austria,
Theodora

i´m so Insired
Mr Strel, the only way I discovered your Book was through work at my Outdoor Department I received your Book and I put on the shelf to sell. For some reasons the tittle cought my eye everytime I was at work, I´m really not a reader however I started reading your Book. I didn´t get a chance to finish it. Few Months later I came to the United states and that´s when I purchased a copy for myself and I´m working my way to finish it. It´s really inspiring for me it´s about life in General. I wish you all the best in the future.

Most amazing thing I ever seen
I watched your documentary and was shocked that was even possible to swim 50 miles in one day. Then doing it 66 days in a row. That has to be the most impressive thing I have ever seen. Makes climbing Mount Everest look like child´s play. Take care Martin. Im truely touched by what you have done.

My Non-Fiction Essay
Dear Martin Strel,

I am writing an essay on your longest swim, The Amazon River! My College English class is focusing a paper on the documentaries of the 2009 Sundance Festival. I have choosen you as my topic! You really have amazed the world, and i hope to spread your story further! If you could give me any details (since the documentary is not out yet) on any illnesses you received during your swim and after the completion that would be extremely helpful. What makes the Amazon River so polluted? What things did you see, or effected your health during the journey?

Please e-mail me back.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Mangus
