As a slovene descendant (born in Argentina but now living in Brazil), I am very proud to know that another slovene broke another record! I do wish you can continue promoting peace and environmental care by swimming, not only the Amazon river, but many more rivers around the world. a big warm hug and my best wishes

You´re an inspiration in a strange sort of way. Having taken a boat up the Amazon, I couldn´t imagine swimming 25 meters in it.

What an achievement! Some don´t even test their thoughts, some don´t test their body and most just make excuses. But you, against all odds, obstacles and advice, got up and did it and continued to do it. A man that has and will continue to achieve great things. All the best Ary

I recently read Lynne Cox´s book on swimming the English Channel, Russia´s Lake Baykal, Antarctia, etc. I am fascinated by her and now, Martin Strel. What a HERO!! You really got people interested in the sport I love and in your quest to raise awareness of Alzheimer´s. You are brave and inspiring. Best wishes from Aurora, IL.

In your set of pictures on your website from the day you completed your remarkable swim, there is a mammoth creature with huge claws. What is this creature?
